THE REAL DEAL OR AN IMPOSTER
Nashville.com by Sue Langford
Truthfully, I managed to be quite lucky meeting artists. I’ve become a fan of Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Brantley Gilbert, Jason Aldean and so on. I even won the opportunity to meet some of those artists. The one thing I realized after my first meet and greet with Jason Aldean last year was that the artists don’t always know what’s happening regarding the social media part of promoting themselves.
When I won the chance to meet Jason last year and asked him about the profiles, he said there was only one page that was his – one and only one. He said it was run by his management company for promotion and for the fans. This small group of ladies was told by that management company to screenshot any conversations that this impersonator had with other fans and report it to them. Still, nothing was done. Those profiles continue to this day. What I’ve realized in all this time is that sometimes the management companies don’t even realize the importance of the social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

There are so many fans heading down to Nashville this year for CMA Fest with hopes, dreams and fantasies of meeting their favorite country artists in mind. Fan fair brings in tons of fans and those once in a lifetime chances for the lucky fans. Over the past number of years, social media has become a tool to promote and advertise upcoming artists and shows. Facebook has fan pages for almost every artist you’d want to meet. The one thing I came across was profiles claiming to be some of my favorite musicians.
Via a little tip I received from a friend on Facebook, I started realizing that fake profiles were being created under the names of some of the top ten music acts. Jason Aldean has 10 profiles under his stage name. I dug a little deeper into it and realized that some fans took advantage of their popularity. Perfect example was last summer. The person behind the fake Jason Aldean profile was claiming to be Jason, talking to fans and saying completely outlandish things that a clear thinking person would’ve been shocked at. I ended up befriending a small group of ladies that brought the truth to light. There were two profiles that were working together to defraud all the fans. One was claiming to be Jason’s wife Jessica, and the other was claiming to be Jason himself. Rumors were created, lies were told and the web of lies continued to get bigger and bigger. As of today, there are over 2000 people still on those profiles thinking that they are talking to the real Jason Aldean.
As a smart business move, Twitter has opted to verify celebrity accounts (a step ahead of Facebook). As I see it, it was a smart move on their part so that fans aren’t defrauded. My question was, why hasn’t Facebook done that? A petition is still circulating that was going to be forwarded to Facebook about this complaint.
In the past month or so, I was notified that these fake profiles are starting to get worse. Now, the imposters are creating fake profiles to corroborate the original profiles. Perfect example was a scandal that was released regarding Alan Jackson and his daughter. Someone claimed to be his daughter and said that she was in hospital etc. It hit the airwaves and fans came in droves to stop it from happening again on Facebook. Same thing happened with Martina McBride’s daughters. Oddly enough, they even went as far as creating profiles under the names of Jason Aldean’s daughters to cover for the fake Jason profiles.
The impostors, over the past few months, have even gone as far as accepting gifts in Jason’s name. Packages were sent to somewhere in the state of Washington as fans were told that he could pick them up there. Fans sent expensive guitars with promises that “Jason” would sign them and send them back. Nobody ever got anything back from these imposters. A private investigator was even duped into believing that it wasn’t a scam.
Oddly enough, a group of ladies I ended up bumping into on some of the fake profiles took it upon themselves to start defending Jason Aldean’s name on these social media sites. Known only as the “Aldean Defenders”, these ladies have spent almost 3 years trying to rid Facebook of the impersonators and tried to ensure that others don’t get caught up in the web of lies from these fake profiles. The group started out as 2 or 3 women and has taken off from there. Not only are they trying to clear Jason Aldean’s name on Facebook, but they’ve gone one step further trying to clear the name of anyone whose name has become attached to this group of impostors responsible for the fake profiles. “I can’t believe how far this has gone. Someone needs to stop it,” one of the ladies that we’ll name J.A. J.A. along with J.S. and S.L. were and will remain the founding members of this group of ladies. “Someone has to do something. Why wouldn’t it be us,” J.S. said. “When we realized how far this had gone, we immediately banded together to try and stop it once and for all,” S.L. said. “Facebook allows these profiles to be created despite the hundreds of reports that they are sent. When they stop allowing this and start verifying like Twitter does, we won’t need to do this anymore,” J.A and S.L said in a conversation I had with them recently. “There are a few profiles that truly are who they say they are. Only one I’ve had contact with was Jana Kramer,” S.L. mentioned. So does that mean that every other profile of any country artists is fake? Not necessarily. When you have true proof, you know once and for all that it really is them. Don’t be fooled.
When all is said and done, it’s up to the fans to believe what they want to believe. When you look at all the drama that this group of women have tried to put an end to over the past few years, you can’t help but thank them. Next time you look at a star’s personal page on Facebook and think that you’re actually talking to them, think twice. Don’t be surprised if you start realizing that you’re stuck in a web of lies.
Rules for Facebook:
1) If someone claims to be a country artist and is exposing personal information and starting rumors, report them. They are most likely, fake.
2) When you come across a fake profile, report it. Don’t wait to see if you’re right.
3) Don’t ever send personal items to an artist when they give you an address on Facebook. Most packages that are truly going to the artists would go through their management company. Only way it could be different from that is when they are Opry members. The Opry has mailboxes for its members where fans can send packages and letters.
4) If you are duped, don’t feel so bad. So were thousands of others.
5) Trust your gut instinct. If you think it’s fake, it probably is.

1983... (A MERMAN I SHOULD TURN TO BE)
The machine that we built
Would never save us that's what they say
That's why they ain't comin' with us today
And they also said it's impossible
For a man to live and breathe underwater
Forever was a main complaint
Yeah and they also threw this in my face they said
Anyway you know good and well
It would be beyond the will of god

SWEDE'S TAKE DRUGS FROM BIEBER'S BUS
Swedish police: Small amount of drugs taken from Bieber's bus
By Alan Duke, CNN
updated 2:56 PM EDT, Thu April 25, 2013
While a source close to Bieber insisted it was a non-story and no charges were filed, it is the latest stumble in the teen pop star's European tour. Bieber's publicist had no official comment when contacted by CNN.
Police found a small amount of unspecified illegal narcotics on the tour bus that Bieber and about nine others had taken to the arena for the concert Wednesday night, Stockholm police spokesman Varg Gyllander said.
Authorities searched the bus at the arena after a police officer smelled marijuana near the vehicle when it was outside a Stockholm hotel, Gyllander said. The Bieber team had left the bus before police searched it.
The case is under investigation, but no arrests were made and no charges have been filed, Gyllander said. For a charge of possession of narcotics, police must find the drug on the offender, he said.
The Stockholm concert proceeded as scheduled. Bieber's next concert is on Sunday in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Earlier this month, Bieber drew criticism for a remark he left in the guest book of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He suggested that Frank, the teenage diarist who died in a Nazi concentration camp in 1945, would have been a fan of his. Critics accused him of being narcissistic, but others, including Frank's stepsister, criticized the uproar and said Frank might indeed have been a fan.
And last month in Munich, German authorities confiscated a young monkey that Bieber traveled with.
CNN"s Stephanie Halasz and Jason Hanna contributed to this report.

‘THE JOURNEY’ A HIGHER GROUND PRODUCTION
189 Yonge Street
Toronto, Ontario
Date: June 14th, 2013
‘The Journey` is a unique, multimedia, live theatre experience framed in the dark history of slavery, but ending in the spirit of freedom. The performance provides a peek into the complex history of people of African descent, in an attempt to separate the fact from the fiction. The production is truly a collaborative effort, inspired by the spirit of cooperation exhibited by the unsung heroes of the Underground Railroad revolution.
The score is a mix of horns, strings, West-African drummers, vocalists, and poets. We combine the musical talents of the string section of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra with the eclectic horns of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble from Chicago. We also feature the talents of local Toronto artists such as Dwayne Morgan and Quisha Wint. Throughout the three-act production, we fully engage the audience with elements of modern dance, poetry, and live music combined with an unforgettable visual presentation.
Tickets available in May

The Days pass by and I
Can’t even feel you passing by
I can’t believe you’re real
You’re like a dream through waking eyes
Far, meet me far
Meet me far
Meet me far
Far, meet me far
Meet me far
Meet me far
Your touch can slow down time
And even though you’re on my mind
You’re all I need in life
It’s you and me just drifting by
Far, meet me far...

Snoop Lyin', Delirious Pimp, Nemo Homos,? Who knows?
"In the very center of Hell, condemned for committing the ultimate sin (personal treachery against God), is Satan. Satan is described as a giant, terrifying beast with three faces, one red, one black, and one a pale yellow:
He had three faces: one in front bloodred;
and then another two that, just above
the midpoint of each shoulder, joined the first;
and at the crown, all three were reattached;
and at the crown, all three were reattached;
the right looked somewhat yellow, somewhat white;
the left in its appearance was like those
who come from where the Nile, descending, flows.
Satan is waist deep in ice, weeping tears from his six eyes, and beating his six wings as if trying to escape, although the icy wind that emanates only further ensures his imprisonment (as well as that of the others in the ring)."
No homo(phobia)? Hip-hop’s shift in anti-gay tone By MESFIN FEKADU
The Associated Press
First Published Aug 23 2012 07:26 pm
New York • Snoop Dogg has rapped in songs where the f-word — the other f-word — has been tossed about. He’s even said it, part of a long list of rappers who have freely used the gay slur in rhyme.
For years, anti-gay epithets and sentiments in rap have largely been accepted, along with its frequent misogyny and violence, as part of the hip-hop culture — a culture that has been slow to change, even as gays enjoy more mainstream acceptance, particularly in entertainment.
Snoop Dogg Says Hip Hop Is Ready For Openly Gay Rapper by SLAVA KUPERSTEIN
posted August 26, 2012 at 1:30PM EDTSnoop Dogg thinks Hip Hop's opinion on homosexuality has shifted.
I wonder if Snoop Lyin' feels the same way. You can't eat all the pies and have all the pies. Who is this guy, Marley reincarnated, Serious Pimp or Nemo Homos? I've got nothing against gays but Snoop is flip floppin' one day and hip poppin' the next. If he starts chanting FREE PUSSY RIOT, time to drip drop him. Actor can play Acta' but RASTA IS ALWAYS RASTA. C'mon dread.
"Rastafari have also interpreted Biblical proclamations on homosexuality — such as Leviticus 18:22: "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination" — as proof of God's hatred of queers. Rastafari believe that homosexuality is a product of Babylon (corrupt modern society) and will not be found in Zion (the black homeland and birthplace of humanity)." I have no problem with gays but with the hypocrisy of simultaneously using Rastafari (personal treachery against God) and sympathizing with homosexuality to pimp out wares and earn up. Forget the red the black and the green a minute, pink is the flavor of the day we sellin'. No man can be all things to all people at all times.

WILL THE REAL PuSsY RiOt PLEASE STAND UP.

What's your alltime favorite PUSSY RIOT album, song, lyric? Aha... I don't like it but I've got to use the term SHEEPLE. I just saw the original Italian PuSsy RiOt, founded in 2004's Myspace page. They sound good, like a mixture of Fuzzbox and Motorhead. Lightyears ahead of their Russian namesake because they are an actual BAND. They have playlist, albums, a record label etc. Anyhoo the bandwagoneers are leaving messages of support for the anti-Putin PR (Pussy Riot or Public Relations? lol). Hello, wrong band in the wrong country! The sadness of flavor of the moment CLICKTIVISM. KONYed again by the Majik of Massa Media using PR .
Киска бунт! Нет!
I am not trying to offend anyone but my opinion is that PR is a farce. They are the new Invisible Children. Six "songs" and five videos since the end of 2011 do not a great band make. The band has been together for nine months, five of which were spent in jail. That's four months as a "band". Taste is subjective but technically their music is laughable. They pop up out of nowhere do an anti-Putin PR stunt and suddenly music legends and the media are swarming around them like they are steaming Lords of the Flies.
I understand the causes of freedom and equality are worthy ones but I question the amount of media this "band" has received. While this circus was going on Moscow banned all LGBT marches for 100 years, the USA arrested a Marine, Brandon Raub, for his anti-government posts on FB, 85 000 people in central Africa have contracted cholera (found out because my friend in Sierra Leone is shitting his pants and has isolated himself on his farm - 200 dead there 6000 infected) and the list goes on. Where is the western media?!
PR desacralized the state church in Putin's Russia. They were practically begging to be arrested. They were and have been punished leniently, two of a possible seven years. They will do their time in the gulag under the microscope of the international media and emerge as international pop icons. In the age of Obama citizens in the USA's fear law enforcement for the "crime" of "walking or driving while brown". Wearing masks staging a PR stunt/Flashmob/concert in a place of worship in Washinton, DC without permission and harassing clergy (suicide mission)?!
The same people that sold KONY 2012 are now selling PR. FYI Suzanne Nossel, the head of USA Amnesty International is a Hilary Clinton Aide. Hmmm...
Excuse my grumpy old man rantings but it's my truth. I have a feeling the west is using PR a la Invisible Children in an attempt to shame Putin and put him between a rock and a hard place over a trivial controversy. You can make up your own mind.
The hypocrisy of Witchhunting witches hunting Witchhunting witches. Which is which? -EXHALE
Maybe PR would be free if they knew these lyrics or maybe they are not because they do.

SOUNDMACHINES
Soundmachines
An instrument for performing electronic music
Three units, which are resembling standard record players, translate concentric visual patterns into control signals for further processing in any music software. The rotation of the discs, each holding three tracks, can be synced to a sequencer.
The Soundmachines premiered on the Volkswagen New Beetle stand at the IAA motor show in late Summer 2011. In cooperation with the sounddesigner/ producer Yannick Labbé of TRICKSKI fame, we developed three unique discs, each controlling one track of an Ableton Live Set exclusively made for the Event. The show was supported by a set of realtime generated visuals, running on a 25m wide LED wall.

GMF TO OFWGKTA?!
Hip Hop has been transmuted into a mash of cartoonish, shock rock , "JACKASS", and pseudo film noir, videos with techno crunkster music. I'm still trying to figure out how Grand Master Flash's genre evelvoved into Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All's. I must admit the videos are entertaining as well as disturbing.

AN OLD BLUEPRINT FOR TRIVIAL CONTROVERSY
"You know how people write plays and movies? That's what I did," Minaj told the Associated Press. "I wrote that and I gave the world a tiny little preview of what was to come. And so I have to perform it on the set in which it would be in the movie, right?" she said, dismissing her critics.
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.
Niki Minaj's 2012 Grammy performance was a page right out of the book of MDNA. Madonna's "Like A Prayer" is a precursor to this type of performance by artists such as Lady Gaga.
Niki Minaj's 2012 Grammy performance was a page right out of the book of MDNA. Madonna's "Like A Prayer" is a precursor to this type of performance by artists such as Lady Gaga.
In Madonna's video she witnesses a murder, runs into a church in a brown slip, kisses a statue of a saint, makes love with a black man on a church pew, dances in front of burning crosses, sings with a church choir, and shows bleeding stigmata on both palms as though she had survived a crucifixion. Only Madonna could pull this video off -- it is stormy, mysterious, tragic, violent, dark, and exciting.
....By this point in her career, Madonna realized that the more scandalous the project, the more successful it would be. She was clearly begging for either the KKK or the "moral majority" to kick up a fuss.
It's a shame that, now more than ever, this "shock rock" mentality overshadows great artists with sincere messages.

TRIBUTE TO WHITNEY HUSTON?!
Uploaded by siebenhaar on Feb 12, 2012
On 31 August 2011 Kidd's best friend Jamel Sundoo turned 20 and therefore we recorded this video as a love letter. It was not even supposed to be published. We just have to say goodbye to one of the worlds best singers. It would be terrible if this should be construed as anything other than a big bucket of love.
Whitney, we love you. You were the greatest. 1 love.
I think this issue is bigger than Whitney Huston. Danish "hip pop artists", Pato and Kidd, see this as a fitting tribute to a deceased human being. The more I think about it the more I see it as mockery and disrespect. They are entitled to their opinion as am I.
Never mind the matter of Whitney Huston being dead or alive. A classic ballad, which has become her tademark, has been butchered to bits. I can relate to their logic, "imitation is the highest form of flattery", and Kidd was singing a love letter to Jamel, but it is just a brutal rendition. If that's the best Kidd has to offer, so be it. Everyone is entitled to express themselves.
Pato is capable of much higher forms of expression than this. I believe he is extremely talented and am a fan of his music, in particular the song "Nighthawks." How can one who produced that level of art decay to justifying this, "big bucket of...", as a tribute to a great legend of music?
Whitney was a true artist, despite battling personal demons. She was blessed with talent and took the time to master her art. She loved and respected her craft and in return her work was loved and respected by music fans.
In contrast Kidd's cover wasn't worth publishing while she was alive. The video pays no homage to her or the music. Now that she's dead, not even buried, is it o.k. to post it as a memorial? Whitney can't even do the proverbial spin in her grave because they haven't even put her cold body 6 feet under. "Half-steppin.'"
| August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012 |
It's easy to show love with a few mouse clicks, a repost and a quick comment. It's not exactly blood, sweat and tears for the sake of art. At the very least they could have re-recorded the song, put alittle soul into it and dedicated it to Whitney. They should have come correct, I sincerely hope they do so in the future.
Our mortality should be a unifying factor for humanity. Anyone who respects that would understand that posting this video at this time could be interpreted as bad judgement.
ONE LOVE
